Q magazine article analysis

 This is an article from a Magazine of the name ‘Q’. This article is all about just one band or one music player that is called ‘KASABIAN’ this means that the magazine producer has gone into deep detail about what ‘KASABIAN' does and what music he presents to the audience target that he would like to or already has hit.

This magazine seems to focus on less main stream artists which people hardly ever hear about or have never heard about this means that the magazine may loose out on money if they put less mainstream artists on the front cover of there magazine as well as putting them inside of the magazine and writing an article about them.

It says ‘they’re going a bit Jackson 5’ This means that the artists are trying to remake Jackson 5’s music and make it into there own with their own lyrics and also, making new songs but following the same style as Jackson 5 took. This means this is what the article is going to be about because that was the quote just before the full detail of the magazine started. The difference between this magazine and NME and KERRANG is that this one is less detailed and only contains one article where as on NME articles they could put one or two more onto the page not just one. 

NME Article Analysis

This is one of the main articles that is included in the NME magazine. It shows one of the people that an article has been written about. This is the special addition of the magazine as you can see if you look down the left hand side of the page then you will see that it says ‘60years of NME’ this shows that NME had been going on for 60 years on the days that the magazine was produced.

This article shows that there is a funny side to the NME magazine as well because of the informal language and slang that they use when writing the articles. The stories that they write in the magazine are well detailed and quite well written accept for the little comments that involve swearing but in context it seems that right thing to say throughout the wording that they have used.

There is little quotes all the way throughout of the article and there is also, little comments from the person who wrote the article, this means that everyone likes to get involved and everyone likes to have their bit to say about the things that the people are writing inside of the magazine. With articles like this one they have to have something interesting to write about otherwise you are going to lose the attention of the audience. 

KERRANG Contents Page Analysis

This is a magazine contents page of KERRANG. This is in a good depth of information as well, this means that it has copied the format of NME contents page and has just put a little more detail into it. There is two articles contained on this page and also, a very small article in the bottom right hand corner of the page this shows that the magazine doesn't have to use big adverts to earn more money they just wanted to make it look interesting and maybe get one of the businesses things to sell for them. The main image on this page really draws you attention in because there is a blank person in with the picture of a band and it says ‘this could be you!’ this means that they want you to buy this magazine so that you can read this and then you could apply to be in with the band form a meet and greet.

Like the magazine of the name NME they have followed the same design and split all of things up into sections so that it is more effective and you only have to look at the parts that you want to look and also it gives you the page numbers for the articles on each of he sources on the contents page so that you can just flick through to each of the articles. There is also a little thing at the top of the page that says COVER DATE. This is the date that they have published the magazine on, this just makes you realise that it is not the day that you bought it on its for like a week before.

Theres little sections on gig guides and all different information on that. This means that people who have to watch gigs can look at the reviews to see if they agree on what the person has said about it/them.

NME contents page analysis

This is one of the contents pages from an NME magazine. From this page you can see what is going to be inside the source of information this week. All of the things on the contents page has to be included otherwise they are giving out false information. It splits all of the categories up into little sections and gives you some of the titles of the articles that are going to be explained in more detail and also, there is an article on this page to just to make it look a bit more detailed and full.

Also, there is a advert at the bottom of this page this tells us that the magazine has to advertise for certain businesses just so they can make some more money and also, this money then can go towards the publications of the next NME magazine. Many people before purchasing a magazine like this will look in detail to see if the like any of the bands that are inside of the magazine.

They have used the same colour scheme throughout the whole thing with the NME contents pages this means that everyone will know the magazine when they see it and maybe this will encourage them to buy it.

They have put loads of detail into this page so that they can drag peoples attention and also, they can try and make people read a intense story until the point that they want to buy it.

NME Magazine Front Cover Analysis

This is the front cover of a magazine that is now published and given away for free. This may explain why all of the things on the front cover of the magazine are so small and there isn’t many sell lines or images on the front of the cover. The main image of the front cover is of ‘THE HORRORS’ this shows that it is going to be writing all about the music world and showing us who’s just started to sing music and make music.

There are some pugs spread around the page this shows that they are still using there techniques as they did when you had to pay for it. The people in the main image look very into dark music so this would make you think that they were going to all be about dark music.

The colour scheme that is going on behind the main image is very effective because all of the people contained in the main image are wearing black so the colour scheme is making them stand out from behind. The pugs spread around the main image are the peoples names and also, what part they play throughout the band.

The barcode at the very bottom corner of the front cover is better because it doesn’t obtain to much space and also, it doesn’t stand out as much and this is better because people don’t really want the barcode to take up all of the magazine front cover otherwise they will not purchase the magazine. 

Kerrang Magazine Front Cover Analysis

This is one of Kerrangs magazine front covers, this means that the magazine will contain all of the things that are included on the front of this magazine and also, it may contain more. The masthead of KERRANG is really effective because it shows that they are into very intensive music and also, it means that the magazine cover is focused to what the format and things are like inside.

 The main image on the front of the magazine includes ‘DICE’ this may be one of the people to be on a KERRANG magazine but it shows that the main focus of the magazine is to show people what the magazine was like in the past and how much it has changed. There aren’t many sell lines on the front of the magazine that’s if there are any at all.

The top of the magazine it is stated that ‘The worlds longest follow heavy metal magazine’ this is said to be KERRANG. It shows that the magazine is produced every Wednesday so this shows that it is a weekly magazine and people must enjoy reading it because otherwise they would be making it to be published every week. The money they make off one magazine will go towards publishing the next one and then they will keep the profit if they receive enough money and don’t make a loss.

To show that the magazine is all about heavy metal they have tried to make a specific link with images on the front cover. This means that all of the quotes and images shows that the magazines focus is on heavy metal.
